VE8IR APcert

Thanks to VE8CK for turning down his radio and picking up my whopping 1.2W on FT-8 on 20m band. This was the only contact with VE8YK for this event. Set up was not optimal. I was operating FT-817 from apartment window with an MFJ Mag Loop (thanks VE8AG). Many stations heard over the North Pole but nobody heard me even though spotted on DX system online. Also tried CW and PSK31. Very interesting to observe 20 m band 24/7 - intermittent openings including stations from New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Europe etc. Openings only lasted seconds or minutes...Atmosphere is much more dynamic than I thought...
